Hi. Just downloaded the software but the icon is not in my tray. When I go to programs and try to open it there, it says the program is already running and to use the icon in the tray. Help! It's a circle I can't get out of and I want to check out how it works!

Sorry you're having a problem with MyStrands. This sounds like a problem we've seen--and that we're fixing.
MyStrands is supposed to exit when you close your music player, but under some circumstances it doesn't. (This is what we're investigating and fixing.)
To work around this, you will need to bring up "Task Manager" by right clicking in the system tray, then go to the "Processes" tab. Find the MyStrands process listed there, and cancel it. Then start your music player again, and the icon should appear in your system tray as advertised.
Please let us know which music player/operating system you're using so that we can further investigate. We're also VERY interested in getting this fixed.
Thanks,
The MyStrands team

I've tried a variety of combinations as far as launching/quitting iTunes and the MyStrands plugin to no avail.
I'm really hoping we can get this working soon.
We're having problems with this one. One thing that might help us is if you could try an experiment. Could you download and install the Windows Media Player version, and see if you have the same problem with the icon not appearing?
Thanks

This configuration DOES seem to work properly for me.
That being said, not being able to use this with iTunes is a deal-breaker for me, so I'm hoping to see this issue resolved soon. :)
Please let me know if I can provide further information to help with this. Thanks!
We're still trying to figure this one out. It really seems as though the MyStrands_itunes.exe process is not closing. Can you check the Processes tab in Task Manager to see if it is there? If so, close it, then start MyStrands for iTunes from your Start menu.
One other question is whether you have ever re-booted, then tried to start MyStrands for iTunes?
If this works, and you do get the icon in the system tray, we recommend that you always close MyStrands before you close iTunes. For some reason, the newer version of iTunes does not let go of the MyStrands process when it closes and so "part" of MyStrands turns off, but the process itself does not go away.
Our next version should do away with the inconvenience of having to close MyStrands before closing iTunes, but for now, killing the process (MyStrands_iTunes.exe) and subsequently, always quitting MyStrands before quitting iTunes is the work around.
Keep us posted as to whether this works for you. Thanks.
1) Shut the computer down completely and let it sit for a few minutes.
2) Boot up into Windows XP Pro SP2
3) Launch iTunes 7.1.x
4) MyStrands comes up and asks for my email address and password.
5) I get the "spinner" dialog with "Please wait, MyStrands starting..." (or something like that).
6) Still no icon in the tray.
7) Open Task Manager, and MyStrands_iTunes.exe is running, but still nothing to interact with.
8) Close iTunes.
9) Repeat steps 3-7, ad nauseum.
We appreciate your patience with this issue.
After looking at your last comment, I have a feeling that you might have an older version of the install which had a bug in the login/password process. This is fixed in the latest install.
Try this version and let us know what happens :
