About ()

I'm a displaced expatriate from Ohio currently living in Spain. Being from the American Heartland, I love classic Rock'n'Roll. My earliest memory is riding in the family car while The Doors' "Light My Fire" was playing on the radio. Now that's music!

Video of "Take on Me" - remake of the classic AHa! tune

~ July 14, 2006 at 8:57 (Views: 749 )

Seems pretty ballsy for an Indie group to covering a song that seems so trite these days. But they do a better job than the original -- give it more edge, and less bubblegum.

I guess Scandinavian bands like to stick together. Check out the video.

Manfredo Fest Playlist
by Wahiawa786 ~ February 3, 2006 at 8:41

Charlie Brown has stopped "loosening the bark so the tree can grow." After about 55 tracks, I decided to play tracks from a (somewhat) better known artist, the late Jazz pianist, Manfredo Fest.
This dates from the DMP years of the late 1980's, when I had given up on Rock and was alternating between Hawaiian and Jazz. I played the music CD before, so I know Musicstrands knows Manfredo.

"Unknown Classics" Playlist
by Wahiawa786 ~ February 3, 2006 at 6:47

The Israel Philharominc and Lenoard Bernstein have been at it for a while, but nothing has shown up so far. (Igor Stravinski's "The Rite of Spring" has been played, and "The Firebird" is almost finished.) Next up is Mussorgsky/Ravel: "Pictures at an Exhibition" with The Cleveland Orchestra and Geroge Szell. The final set of this 59-track playlist is "Rossini Overtures" with The Academy of St. Martins-in-the-Fields and Neville Marriner. I wonder if any of these show up? Oh well, back to more popular artists like Chuck Berry or Marvin Gaye.
